Best Events for Kids This Christmas Up And Down The Country

With festive shows, productions, events, and activities on up and down the country, England is one of the best places to be over the holiday period. That is if you know where to go.

With so many things going on and so little time to prepare, it’s common for events to be fully booked up or even over before you know it. Only for you to have to wait another year until they come back around.

To make sure you don’t miss out on the best of the festivities this year, we’ve rounded up our top five things to do over the 2017 holiday period. Make sure you visit at least one of them and remember to book ahead to avoid disappointment!

The Snowman Film Tour

This year, the Snowman film tour by Carrot Productions is one of the must-see experiences for kids and adults alike. The classic 1982 animation is being projected on a big screen in unique locations up and down the country, supported by a live, professional orchestra playing the original film score.
The result is a truly magical and moving experience that can be enjoyed by all the family.

Christmas at The Eden Project

There a few places more enchanting at Christmas time than The Eden Project in Cornwall. Not only do the massive biomes that house the worlds largest indoor rainforest serve as the ideal backdrop for a twilight winter walk, but visitors can also meet Father Christmas, go ice skating, and watch live storytelling. The festivities go on throughout the holidays and booking ahead is essential to make sure you get your moment with the man in red.

Ice Skating at the Natural History Museum

The Natural History Museum is a sight to behold at any time of year, but over the festive period, it appears in even more spectacular fashion. Its grounds are illuminated with twinkling fairy lights and graced by a magnificent tree. Visit this Christmas to take in the beauty and events of the museum, or head down to their ice skating rink which is open all day and well into the evening over the holidays.

Santa and His Reindeers at Tatton Park

Tatton, the historic estate in Cheshire that contains the medieval Tatton Hall mansion, goes all out at Christmas, making it one of the top places to visit in the country. Each year the mansion has a different theme, each time more spectacular than the last. Someone who always makes an appearance, though, is Father Christmas, and even his reindeers too. As they accommodate large groups and embrace the governments “Learning Outside The Classroom Manifesto”, Tatton truly is
one of the best places to visit on a school trip at Christmas.

The Festive Tradition of Pantomime

No Christmas events list is complete without mentioning the weird and wonderful tradition of Pantomime. And in typical fashion, this year there’s no shortage of shows to choose from. From grand productions such as Peter Pan at the SSE Arena Wembley to local shows like Beauty and The Beast at The Grand Opera House in York, you'll find it all. Check out the Big Panto Guide website to find out what’s on show near you this Christmas.
