5 Of The UK's Best Summer Camps

Ever watched those American movies and wondered why we don't have residential summer camps like that here? It just so happens to be one of the only Americanisms that has yet to fully catch on in our UK culture.

Camp Wilderness, Hertfordshire 

Camp Wilderness is all about those back to nature experiences for children aged 6-15 and is held in safari style canvas tents. Your youngsters can participate in a whole host of fun activities including archery, wild swimming, marshmallow roasting, bushtucker feasts, shelter building and traditional fire lighting as well as a range of others.

Camp Cooper, Glasgow

Camp Cooper is the UK's number one American style summer camp up in Scotland. If your little ones are after that whole experience then this is the place to be.

Residential durations range from one week to a full 7 weeks at camp for kids aged 7-17. Activities are partially child led as well as set group activities to encourage your children to step out of their comfort zone and make friends for life. 

Met Film Making Camp, Rugby 

A two week course is aimed at your older, budding film producers. Teens from 14-17 can attend camp run from Rugby School which is kitted out with a state of the are Media Centre. 

They will be involved in scene writing, video editing, operating cameras as well as being involved in social activities such as creativity workshops and movie nights. 

Uppingham Summer School, Uppingham

Uppingham school don't just stick to the one summer school course. Here you can get involved with music, creative arts, drama or sport and all are aimed at children from 6-8. 

The sports summer school has become THE summer course for your little ones looking to start their England squad careers off early. 

Learn and Experience, Bedale

The Learn and Experience summer camp offers plenty of fun and thought out activities for 8-14 year olds in the beautiful setting of the Yorkshire Countryside. 

Here they can expect water fight competitions, camp fires, murder mysteries and themed evenings a plenty.
