Learning Happens Outside The Classroom

More and more schools every year are acknowledging the importance of outdoor educational learning to the curriculum. 86 per cent of primary schools and 99 per cent of secondary schools offer their pupils at least one school residential trip opportunity during their time in school. It doesn’t only offer alternative learning it offers an opportunity for pupils to bond and gain some independence.

Residential trips for schools are a key part of the national curriculum and high quality school trips on offer mean teachers can create experiences that improve pupils’ classroom learning, adding opportunities pupils may not otherwise have, particularly in the case of urban schools where children have limited access to natural outdoor environments in their day to day learning.

Trips promote the importance of allowing children to connect with the outdoor world and can transfer their learning from the classroom.

Outdoor fun

Time away at activity centres can offer a range of diverse and exciting activities from developing practical skills to outdoor educational adventures like abseiling, climbing, archery and team games. All exciting and fun activities for pupils to enjoy and help with team building skills.

Creating a good classroom learning balance

The pressure on children to achieve higher results in more comprehensive subjects grows each year, and there is more pressure on pupils to achieve top results. This makes it even more important for school children to get out and explore places. It’s also rewarding for teachers to see their pupils enjoying themselves and making friends.

Build pupils self-esteem

As well as the physical health benefits, school residentials have been proven to have a positive effect on children’s self-esteem and confidence levels which in turn improves their emotional health and wellbeing. Even the spare time of a residential where children can relax and play is hugely important in allowing children to make their own decisions and have fun. School children will remember those residentials for the rest of their lives and will build memories that will last a lifetime.
