Do you use your vehicle as a place of quiet refuge?
24 March 2021
A new survey of 2,000 drivers by Peugeot found that 41% of people in UK households with four or more residents have used their vehicle as a place of quiet refuge during the pandemic. We at Marshall Minibus leasing are interested to hear that drivers have found alternative uses for their vehicles during the periods of lockdown in the UK, as well as an increased dependence on private vehicles in light of the pandemic.
Almost half (47%) admitted to retreating to their vehicle to catch up on TV shows, whilst 43% said that they used the space to read a book. A third also reported using their vehicle as alternative office space.
Managing director of Peugeot UK Julie David said, “Cars have always played a variety of roles in our lives, and the pandemic has shown how helpful they can be as quiet, comfortable places to relax, call friends or work remotely.”
Interestingly, Peugot found that 37% of respondents said that they would be more likely to use a zero emissions vehicle as an escape space in which they would keep warm or cool without producing dangerous fumes.
Car manufacturers are beginning to cater to the “cars-as-comfort” market, with models such as Tesla’s Model S and Model X incorporating features which make it possible to play video games when parked. Tesla Theatre also offers drivers access to streaming services whilst parked.
