The Pearson National Teaching Awards introduce the 'Lockdown Hero' award

The Pearson National Teaching Awards, considered the ‘Oscars’ of the teaching profession, have announced a new award category for 2021 on the BBC’s The One Show - the ‘Lockdown Hero’. The team at Marshall Minibus are delighted to see the every-day heroes in the teaching community being given the recognition they so deserve. 

The Award, supported by children's author Michael Morpurgo, will honour ‘everyday heroes’, including schools or individuals who have gone above and beyond to support children and pupils – both at home and at school - ‘despite the extraordinary challenges presented by lockdown’.

Parents, teachers and schools from England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland are encouraged to get in touch with Pearson to tell them about their ‘lockdown hero’. It could be someone who has positively impacted the emotional wellbeing of your child, student or class.

The awards organisers have also promised that every school member that is entered will receive a special edition Thank a Teacher card.

Michael Morpurgo said, “We have long known the impact that one superb teacher can have, the young people they can inspire and the lives they can change. But this past year has shown us all, more than perhaps ever before, the true value of teachers.” 

The One Show’s Alex Jones will sit on the panel of judges which will decide the winner of the Lockdown Hero award.
