MOT madness has been avoided this lockdown
11 December 2020
You might remember the recent chaos over MOT backlogs following the UK’s spring lockdown. New research from Fleet Assist suggests that this time around, garages are staying open and keeping up with demand to avoid a similar disaster. We at Marshall Minibus Leasing are always here to support our customers and are happy to answer any questions you may have.
Motorists were granted a six-month extension on their MOT back in March so that they could continue to use their vehicle during the pandemic whilst garages were closed. This exemption expired on August 1, meaning the industry had very little time to catch-up before the UK was placed back into lockdown on November 5 2020.
Chris Crow, head of network at Fleet Assist, said, “The servicing and MOT landscape in the UK looks very different now than it did in the first lockdown,” said Chris Crow, Fleet Assist’s head of network.
“All garages have learnt from their experiences first time round and have strict procedures in place that have enabled them to stay open for business. This is good news for the economy and for the company car and van driver.
“This has also helped reduce the backlog of servicing and MOTs from earlier in the year.”
