The Best UK Beach Destinations For Your School Trip

A trip to the beach can make wonderful childhood memories, many children do not get to experience. Your trip can be educational as well as fun and as long as all safety precautions are well thought out and prepared, there is no reason you as the teacher, couldn't have fun too.

Here is our list of the UK's best beaches...

Porthcurno, Cornwall - This beach would be a fantastic destination for Geography students as either side of the cove is surrounded by dramatic rock formations and exotic plants. There is also a car park in close proximity for convenience.

Weymouth, Dorset - Weymouth Beach is said to have the best sand in Britain for sandcastle building. The beach also has lifeguards, a lost child and first aid point to give teachers piece of mind.

Barafundle Beach, Pembrokeshire - Hidden caves, sand dunes and rock pools make this one of the world's top rated beaches. It also has the best UK water quality rating.

Silecroft, Cumbria - Silecroft boasts a 5-mile sand and shingle beach and is great for older children/teens. Fishing, canoeing and water skiing are all available.

Holkham Beach, Norfolk - With sand dunes and rock pools galore, this beach is ideal for all ages. It is also situated near pine woodlands so is actually fantastic for spotting wildlife.

West Sands, St Andrews - A popular, clear water beach with a good sea breeze so is great for kite flying. West Sands also has a car park and toilets close by.

Burntisland Beach, Fife - Rated as a blue flag beach, it's actually a pretty safe place to take young children. When sandcastle building gets tiresome, there are plenty of rockpools to explore.
